EZ Grabbit Tarp Tie Down mount positions.
The following is a short guideline for properly locating EZ Grabbit
mounts for covered loads intended for transport. However, these
guidelines can also be applied to more general uses.
By itself EZ Grabbit strength capability allows for broad spacing to as much as 10 feet apart. However, covering a load with a given material invariably creates unique tie down circumstances around the perimeter. Tying down excess material and realizing optimum tie down points can occur at most any point around the perimeter of a given load. Additionally, any free span of material (between tie down points) is susceptible to bellowing and flapping from wind which can expose the load within and lead to premature tarp damage.
EZ Grabbit Mount Placement Recommendation:
Under the assumption loads will vary in shape and size on a regular basis and /or violent weather conditions are possible, it is recommended a Grabbit Mount be located on average every 2 to 2½ feet around the perimeter of a load space. A Grabbit Mount may include a mounting bracket. Otherwise screwing a Dog Bone to a surface is considered a Grabbit Mount.
|Recommended Grabbit Mount Spacing||From||To|
|2 ft (approx 60cm)||2.5 ft (approx 75cm)|
Mount Point Spacing:
Please note this trailer picture does not have a Grabbit Mount over the wheel well. This is by design. Thus the actual average spacing is roughly 2.5 ft apart along this 10 foot trailer.
Dog Bone Orientation:
For anatomical reasons consideration of the applicant who will apply the Sleeve to the Dog Bone is important. Experimentation is advised.However, Grabbit Tool’s experience for best results is outlined in figures 1,2, & 3. For example,the trailer to the right realized the 135 deg orientation was best because the application point is below the waist line of most individuals who would execute the application operation. Once mounted, follow surface mount application instructions.
90 Degree Dog Bone Orientation
Ease of Sleeve application is best when cover material is vertical and mounted in positions at or above waist level.
135 Degree Dog Bone Orientation
Ease of Sleeve application is best when cover material is vertical and mounted in positions at or below waist level.
180 Degree Dog Bone Orientation
Ease of Sleeve application is best when cover material is horizontal and mounted in positions at or above waist level.
